Fall Toddler Craft: Cute Spider Garland

Easy Fall and Halloween Toddler DIY Craft

In an attempt to do some more crafty things with my little guy, I decided to try and throw together a quick and easy little Fall/Halloween craft for him. Since he's only 2, it needed to be quick to hold his attention and rather easy. Also, since he loves spiders (or spidies as he calls them) and I'm a little squeamish around them, I needed to make this craft cute, rather than....arachidny. I definitely had to assist for most steps, but he loved to be involved and loved the outcome of seeing his little spidies strung about even more.

Glue | Black Poms | Scissors | Googly Eyes | Pipe Cleaners | Twine

I was able to order everything but the twine, which I already had, from Michael's. It was nice because I decided one morning that I wanted to do the craft, placed a quick pick-up order and when I picked it up 2 hours later, it was the perfect timing to begin the craft. Gotta love the order pickup option. I also love the fact that there's always a coupon code that is listed right on their site!

  1. Cut your pipe cleaners in half and then in half once more. You'll need five total smaller pipe cleaners per spider. Four for the legs, which you'll bend in half to make eight legs total and one for the body

  2. Take four of those smaller pipe cleaners and bend them in half slightly, turning up the ends to give your spider it's legs

  3. Using your fifth smaller pipe cleaner, place your four legs on over it, then place one pom, which will act as the body of the spider on top of that

  4. Twist the pipe cleaner on top of the spider's body

  5. Glue on your googly eyes! You can get creative with this one. Some of our spiders had 8 tiny eyes, one eye, 2 bigger and 1 smaller eye...let your little one choose how many eyes their spider needs

  6. Once you have a good collection of spiders, string the twine through and hang!
